Design defect in Ford vehicle air bags sparks recall

Given the number of people who use their vehicles on a daily basis in Hennepin, a car recall due to a design defect can affect many lives. If there was an accident as a result of car parts or poorly crafted equipment, it's important to know why it happened and how it can be rectified. In many instances, those who suffered serious injury due to a mistake in manufacturing don't know about it until it's too late.

A recall involving a number of Ford vehicles has been implemented due to a problem with air bag deployment. The models affected are the 2013-2014 Ford Lincoln MKZ, Fusion, Escape and C-Max. This recall involves 745,000 vehicles in the United States and even extends to Canada and Mexico. Ford has recalled nearly 4 million vehicles in the U.S. this year. The issue is believed to put forth the possibility that the air canopy might not deploy correctly if it is needed. The canopy is to protect the heads of those who are in the vehicle at the time of a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has received many complaints about this problem.

When purchasing a product, it's not expected that there will be a design defect that will render it dangerous. In many instances, this is innocuous and the product can simply be returned to the company for a refund and will be pulled from the shelves with no harm done. In the case of a motor vehicle, however, it's not that simple. A design defect can result in consumer injury and even fatalities. Companies may try to downplay the danger or deny that it was the cause of serious injury and fatality entirely. Those who have been hurt need to understand their rights to file litigation in the event that such a mistake leads to an accident.

Although Ford claims that there have yet to be any accidents or injuries reported as a result of this flaw, some incidents may simply have gone unreported so far. Those who have been involved in an accident and been hurt by this or any other defect in a car need to know how to move forward for compensation. Discussing the matter with an experienced attorney is a wise strategy.
